OK, so I obviously failed the resolution I stated in my last journal. A lot of things happened in my life since then.
I moved.I moved from an apartment that I used on my own only, to a house with two other roommates. I'm still curious about how things are going to work out; I've been here for two weeks exactly now, so it's too short a time to actually tell.
But so far it's been great. I have a room that has the most daylight (yay for drawing!) and a BALCONY! I can't wait for the summer.
My laptop got stolen.Yeah.
Last Thursday and it happened at work. I've been there and a guest came down to the reception that she couldn't connect to the wifi. I grab my phone (with wifi) so that we could try if the wifi is connecting for other devices and left the laptop at the reception desk. Behind locked door, mind you. Turns out she wasn't typing the password correctly (not that it never happened to me before, but yeah, it IS suspicious). I come back to the reception, laptop's gone, which means that whoever it was had to jump over the desk (1,5m high), grab the laptop (without the electric cable or the mouse...) and leave before I came down. My first laptop ever and with it I lost most of my .psd files, things I wrote and such.
RIP bro, I had a great time in the three years we were together.
New baby.I know this sounds superficial, but having no laptop kinda wasn't an option, so I threw my plans to get financially settled after the move and then buy a new one (yeah, I was planning to, doesn't mean I wanted the old one to be stolen
) out of the window and borrowed money for a new one (I don't think the police will find my old FSC). So, my new babe is
Acer Aspire 4810T Olympic Edition. All silver (no more fingerprints all over my laptop), the LCD cover is some metal alloy, much more durable than just plastic chassis.
[o]14'' LED LCD
[o]CPU: SU9400 (1.40GHz, 3MB L2, 800MHz), 64bit architecture, YAY! It IS a tad bit lazy, yes, but I don't mind that much.
[o]4GB RAM (possibly up to 8GB)
[o]ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330, 512 MB dedicated memory and it's switchable to the integrated on mainboard (saves battery duration when not connected to electricity).
[o]ABGN Wifi and Gigabit LAN connection
[o]6 cell battery, but with all the optimization made it lasted for more than six hours. I know that in a year it will be half the time, but still, 3 hours, that's just sweet.
[o]All that in 1.9 kg of weight and for "only" 22K Czech crowns, something about 900 Euro.
I was a little unsure how we'd get along, but I'm getting used to it quickly. I'm having a bit of issues with the keyboard (it's a bit bigger and I'm not hitting some keys at the right spots, so sorry for typos
), BUT it will allow me to do so much, no more lagging in Photoshop.
Actually, there is some, when I try to smudge with a brush around the size of 300 pixels (that actually freezes PS) or sketch with a brush about 1500 pixels.
Sooo, in the process of trying what this beast (and I) can do, I decided to try coloring Aki again, something I have done in the past and since I decided to write this journal, I submitted a WIP of it:
Cheers to everyone.
